MAINTAINING THE FIRE: HOW DAILY PRACTICES FUEL SPIRITUAL STRENGTH

GLORY BE TO THE HOLY NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST! MAINTAINING THE FIRE: HOW DAILY PRACTICES FUEL SPIRITUAL STRENGTH

Theme Verse: Ephesians 6:10 – “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”

In a quiet village, there lived a young blacksmith named Caleb. Known for his skill in crafting strong tools and weapons, Caleb was diligent in his work. Every day, he heated the fire in his forge, hammering away at iron and steel to create items that were both beautiful and resilient. One day, however, Caleb grew weary of his routine and began to slack off. Instead of tending the fire daily, he would only ignite it when he felt like it or when an urgent order came in. Over time, his tools grew brittle, and his once-strong weapons began to break under pressure.

One evening, when a neighboring village was attacked, the villagers rushed to Caleb, seeking weapons for defense. To his dismay, he realized his neglected forge had failed him—the blades were weak, and the tools unreliable. In that moment, Caleb understood the importance of consistent diligence. It wasn’t enough to work only when he felt like it; maintaining strength required daily discipline.

Like Caleb, if we attend church occasionally, pray in emergencies, or read a few comforting Bible verses when it suits us, we may lack the spiritual strength to overcome attacks from the enemy.

To build and sustain spiritual strength, we need to nurture our relationship with God daily. This means regularly praying in the Spirit, meditating on God’s Word, and examining our hearts for unintentional sins that may need repentance.

In the Bible, we see the life of Samson. Although he was anointed and filled with God’s power, he eventually fell to the Philistines because he neglected his spiritual strength. Like Samson, we too need to be vigilant and consistent in our spiritual walk.

Let today be the day we renew our commitment to spiritual diligence. Be strong in the LORD and in the strength of His might, for He is faithful to sustain us.
