We are in this world, yet “not of this world” (John 17:11). We live in the midst of a confused and troubled environment—an environment of chaos and hopelessness for many. Yes, we must walk through this Valley of The Shadow of Death (Psalm 23:4); however, we must keep our focus on the One who has called us out of the darkness of this world into His Light. JESUS is our Light. Whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12). He is also our Salvation, which demonstrates The Father’s love for us; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). He is our Peace, that peace of GOD that surpasses our understanding, guarding our hearts and minds in Him (Philippians 4:7). Perfect peace He gives us! Not as the world! The peace of the world is momentary, as is its joy. It is sure to pass away. Let His perfect peace calms you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge (John 14:27, AMP).
It would be oh-so mystical if we could go through life and not experience opposing challenges, situations, pain, or loss. However, Jesus told us, as He did His disciples who walked with Him,
“. . . In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, AMP).
Be encouraged while reflecting on the goodness of GOD, the apostle Paul’s request, and GOD’S answer when asking GOD to remove a challenging situation (the thorn in his flesh): “…My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9, AMP).
