In a world where many people are searching for hope, compassion, and kindness, one young woman from Schenectady, New York, is making a difference simply by showing up for people.
Just a girl showing up for people is her description on TikTok. Meet ShaQuilla C., affectionately known as “Shaqfromscratch.” She is a gifted, anointed, talented, blessed, and truly special young woman who has a heart for serving others and glorifying GOD.
ShaQuilla’s life exemplifies 1 Peter 4:10: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of GOD’S grace in its various forms.” Understanding that her GOD-given purpose is to love, serve, and impact lives, she has dedicated herself to helping individuals experiencing homelessness through outreach, meals, and acts of compassion. She doesn’t talk about serving; she displays servanthood through our daily deeds.
As the founder of Block2Block, ShaQuilla is demonstrating what it means to put faith into action. Through her grassroots, faith-driven ministry stated on TikTok, she prepares meals, assembles care kits, and reaches out to those who are often forgotten by society. She understands that every meal shared is more than food; it is a reminder that someone cares, that someone sees them, and most importantly, that GOD loves them.
Scripture reminds us in Matthew 25:40, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
ShaQuilla also exemplifies Matthew 25:40 scripture through her selfless service. Her mission is not about recognition or applause; it is about being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Through every outreach effort, she is spreading hope, restoring dignity, and showing God’s love in action.
Block2Block is built on the belief that communities can come together to create meaningful change. Every meal prepared, every care kit assembled, and every outreach effort is made possible through ShaQuilla’s vision and the support of generous individuals who share the vision of serving others.
ShaQuilla’s story reminds us that we do not have to possess great wealth or extraordinary resources to make an impact. Sometimes, all it takes is a willing heart, a compassionate spirit, and the courage to simply show up.
She is proof that one person, surrendered to GOD and committed to serving others, can transform lives and inspire an entire community.
As you read this article, ask yourself: How can you serve your community and others like ShaQuilla?
Because when we serve and show up for people, we reflect the heart of Christ.
Thank you, ShaQuilla, for answering GOD’S call and reminding us all that love in action truly changes lives. Thank you for walking in compassion. As my grandfather and pastor, Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood, often says, “Compassion is love in action.”
May GOD richly bless you for your faithfulness and servant’s heart, and that everything that you touch prospers. Because of you, surrounding communities are not only being physically fed, but they are also being touched spiritually. Through your outreach, countless individuals are experiencing the love, hope, and compassion of Jesus Christ.
Your life is a testimony for many believers
