Has the thought of giving up on God ever popped up in your heart? You’re not alone. I’ve experienced it even as a believer. I’ve been overwhelmed with the feelings of hopelessness. Sometimes, the cloud of hope seems to have been lifted away from my life. As though forsaken by His Creator, I’ve had to yell out “Why me Lord? Others seem to be far ahead of me. In fact, people I appear to be better than. Yet, why does it appear as though You are not interested in me—in my success and growth? Why are you tying me down to a place? Why can’t I have an headway in life? What’s wrong with me?”
Those and many more are the overwhelming thoughts of hopelessness, when we do not see what God is doing within us. The workings of God on our inside is hardly seen. But the outward manifestation with time is usually undeniable. You might have believed that God doesn’t care about you. Or He seems uninterested in your progress because you don’t even know the bearing of your destiny.
Can you pluck out your eyes because of a slight pain there? Do you think the Almighty Creature can forsake you amidst the pain of processing you so you can last in destiny? Yes, I understand—or may not fully understand the consecration you must go through to be refined in God’s furnace, so you could be malleable in His hands. But God hasn’t brought you this far to forsaken you. It seems to me like a privilege to be refined in God’s furnace. It’s a sign there’s a deposit of His grace and wisdom in the chamber of your soul that must be drawn out. Many at times, it’s a painful process.
Don’t give up yet. If you do, you might have denied many people the grace they’re supposed to benefit from your life. Who knows if it’s through your story that the next generals, leaders, writers, kingdom financer, apostles and world changer would emerge from? You may cry. But keep latching onto God. He loves you.
