I needed to fetch water in the morning that day.
Luckily, my neighbor allowed me to freely get some buckets of water from her tap in her fenced compound. That would save me some bucks.
Sadly, I was looking at the runny tap near a bulldog’s cage but couldn’t fetch the water. My neighbor had a fierce dog. In fact, just opening the gate alone was an open invitation for the dog to start howling at me.
Despite the fact the dog was in a cage and bound with chains to stop it from attacking people who entered the compound, hearing it bark was enough to send cold chills of fear down your veins.
That was the dog’s goal: to instill fear into my soul so I’m unable to get the water that has been given to me freely. This is the same way the devil—even though he has been defeated—keeps some of us in perpetual fear to stop us from accessing the free gift of God’s mercies and grace.
Though the grace and mercies of God have been given freely, many souls are dying in the claws of fear. Fear of:
“God cannot use me again because I’m too dirty.”
“My sin is too great to be forgiven or cleansed by the blood of Jesus.”
“I’ve gone too far away from God for Him to restore me.”
“I felt condemned for my past wrongs. I don’t think I can serve God anymore.”
My message is simple but powerful because regardless of how far you have gone away from God, Jesus has already gone farther ahead on your behalf to deposit the gifts of grace and mercy into the account of your future.
All you need to do is acknowledge how fearful you are to God while you submit your fears to Him through faith in order to seek His grace, mercies, and ability to serve Him again. You can’t make a mark on earth for God’s kingdom by being a victim of fear. The devil is only roaring LIKE a lion. He isn’t the lion. Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. And you have Him in you if you have confessed Him as your Lord and Savior. If you haven’t yet, do it now.
You belong to the Lion’s Tribe. But why are you still afraid? It could be because of ignorance of your identity in Christ. Or ignorance of the finished works of Jesus on the cross. Well, how do you access all these without prayerfully studying your Bible?
You don’t have to be enslaved by fear when the all-powerful God has granted you victory on the cross over sin, flesh, the world, and the devil himself through Jesus Christ. Will you remain a victim of fear? Or will you choose to access God’s grace and mercy that had been provided for your victory?
The choice is yours. But I’ll encourage you to choose grace and mercy. You’ll be glad you did. Now, do that by talking to God in prayers. He loves you beyond your greatest fears.
